Our feet literally take a pounding everyday and are hard working. If you are a runner then you know how important it is to take care of your feet on a daily basis. Runner or not, your feet need some pampering and it’s a great way you can add in some detox as well.
Since the health of our feet affect our overall health then it’s time to pamper these babies. Counting both feet, there’s over 50 bones combined with approximately 60 joints, 200 muscles, tendons and ligaments holding them together so they can move. That’s incredible!
Here’s some DIY strategies to improve your foot health, detoxify along the way and pamper all in one.
Reflexology Massage: Did you know that the bottom of your feet affect what’s going on in other areas of your body? Each foot has approximately 7,000 nerve endings that are reflexes corresponding to organs and internal systems in your body. If you ever have gone for a reflexology massage, you will experience the pressing on these reflex points and it stimulating your nervous system and even open energy pathways that were blocked or congested.
Wearing Comfortable Shoes: Are you wedging your feet into uncomfortable shoes for fashion sake or wearing shoes that support and complement your foot? Designer shoes and floppy sandals may look fabulous but are they worth the pain and discomfort? I bet you could find something glamourous and comfortable. If not then go design your own!
Foot Bath: soak your feet in warm water with epsom salts, essential oils and even apple cider vinegar for a relaxing foot soak with health benefits. Epsom Salt absorbs and removes toxins, and impurities. It is a natural exfoliant and anti-inflammatory remedy used to treat muscle soreness. Magnesium and sulfate are absorbed through the skin and into the bloodstream.
Coconut oil: can be applied to your feet to soften skin and restore skin’s pH levels leaving your skin silky. Also helpful for atopic dermatitis.
