Benefits of Probiotics

Intestinal health and restoring the integrity of your gut barrier is one of the most important goals for reaching your optimal health. The human gut has 10 times more bacteria than all human cells in the entire body with over 400 diverse bacterial species. The benefecial bacteria in our gut is responsible for our gastrointestinal function, provides protection against infections, regulates our metabolism (big one for weight management) and comprises approximately 80 percent of our immune system. Maintaining a healthy balance of the benefecial bacteria aka ‘good flora’ over the bad bacteria is crucial in reducing symptoms of GI distress, IBS, preventing UTI, yeast infections, shown to reduce inflammation, treat eczema, asthma, and minimizing the occurrence of bladder cancers. In addition, the abundance of benefecial bacteria has been linked to improving mood, psychological health, behavior, chronic fatigue, acne, pneumonia, herpes, certain food allergies, insulin resistance and leaky gut.

What can disrupt your beneficial bacteria and allow the bad bacteria to take control and negatively affect your health? Here is a list of the common offenders:

  • antibiotics in medicine form
  • NSAIDs, steroids, antacids
  • antibiotics given to animals that you consume their food products such as: meat, milk eggs, cheese, yogurt, ice cream, butter
  • sugar
  • refined grains
  • processed foods
  • chlorinated and fluorinated water
  • antibacterial soaps
  • pesticides
  • chemicals
  • hormone imbalances
  • stress

Getting into the daily routine of taking a quality probiotic that has been refrigerated and needs refrigeration is my recommendation. It should not contain any milk, corn, soy, wheat, gluten ingredients. You can also incorporate fermented foods that help improve gut flora such as pickled cabbage, sauerkraut, cucumbers, onions, carrots, organic yogurt and coconut kefir.

Remember if you are traveling then take your probiotics with you. Want to learn more then read  the post, Traveling? Don’t Leave Home w/o Your Probiotics

Here’s a blog post explaining how you store your probiotics and how long they last out of refrigerator when being shipped, https://nancyguberti.com/how-to-handle-store-probiotic-supplements/

I always recommend a high quality probiotic that is not sourced with milk, soy, maltodextrin. Click here to get your quality probiotics, once you register an account then search for these quality probiotics, for 5 billion good bacteria the Product Code is PRO-6  for 50 billion good bacteria the Product Code is: THY25  and for 150 billion good bacteria the Product Code is KTF6.
