Do you ask for additional markers such as Vitamin D, C-reactive protein, thyroid, hormones to be checked? Do you receive a copy of your test results to keep in your personal files to compare from year to year? Do you understand what the blood makers even mean?

The hormones that we speak about when it comes to hair loss are the group of hormones called androgens. The three types of androgen hormones are more commonly known as DHT.

If you’re a woman experiencing hair loss, it’s an especially good idea to have your thyroid health evaluated to see if hypo or hyper thyroidism could be at the root of your hair troubles. Experts concur that the hair on your head is an indicator of your overall health so what you do to improve your overall health can have a direct positive impact on your hair.

Here are the blood test markers to include when doctor does CBC to detect the presence of inflammation caused by one or more conditions such as infections, tumors, or autoimmune disorders:

1. C-Reactive Protein (CRP)
2. Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR)
3. TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) and/or other thyroid testing – hypothyroidism can cause symptoms similar to CFS
4. Cortisol when low cortisol concentrations and/or decreased adrenal gland function are suspected
5. Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) Antibody Profile
6. Lyme Antibodies Detection Lyme Antibodies IgM/IgG by Western Blot Formal Name Borrelia Antibodies, IgM/IgG; Borrelia DNA Detection by PCR7. Rheumatoid Factor (RF)

Additional blood markers if you had Covid infection or any variants as well as any shots:

  1. D-dimer blood marker to help rule out clotting (thrombotic) episodes and to help diagnose conditions related to thrombosis
  2. Antibody blood markers
  3. ACE receptors, Angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) & ACE2 since it mediates SARS-CoV-2 infection

These 5 blood markers should be part of the extended CBC panel:
Vitamin D
Vitamin B12
Magnesium
Ferritin (Iron)
Homocysteine

This test will detect LUPUS and other autoimmune disorders: Antinuclear Antibody (ANA)
